Johnny Depp is being sued for allegedly attacking a crew member on the set of an upcoming film and yelling at him: “I will give you $100,000 to punch me in the face right now!”
The Hollywood actor and location manger Gregg ‘Rocky’ Brooks were working on City of Lies, a film that documents the police investigations into the deaths of Biggie Smalls and Tupac Shakur, in April 2017 when the alleged punch-up took place.
According to the lawsuit, Depp had hired two friends for a scene being shot outside a hotel in Los Angeles.
Depp, 55, allegedly asked Brooks to extend the permit needed to shoot outside, which he says he did on two occasions. However, at 11pm the permit official told them that they needed to stop filming.
At that point, the lawsuit states Brooks told the director that they would need to wrap up.
Brooks alleges the director asked him to tell Depp, at which point he went to get an on-set cop to help break the news to him as he was concerned about the actor’s volatility.
However, before Brooks managed to get the police officer Depp allegedly yelled at him: “Who the f**k are you? You have no right to tell me what to do!”
Brooks explained his job was to make sure filming complied with city permits.
“I don’t give a f**k who you are and you can’t tell me what to do!” Depp allegedly screamed.
According to the legal documents, the Pirates Of The Caribbean star then allegedly punched Brooks twice in the rib cage.
“I will give you $100,000 to punch me in the face right now!” Brooks claimed the actor yelled after he didn’t react.
The actor’s bodyguards had to step in as Depp continued to “scream and berate” Brooks, states the suit.
Brooks also alleges the actor’s breath “reeked of alcohol”.
According to the lawsuit, Brooks was let go three days later after refusing to sign a release waiving his right to sue over the alleged incident.
The suit, filed in Los Angeles on July 6, seeks unspecified damages.
Depp is currently embroiled in a legal battle with his ex-managers and is suing his former lawyers, claiming they cheated him out of millions of dollars.
