On January 25, at the age of 6, Anastasia Weaver passed away unexpectedly in the Emergency Room of Akron Children’s Hospital in Boardman, Ohio, surrounded by her family.
Anastasia’s mother, Jessica Day-Weaver, said her husband, Andrew Weaver, found Anastasia unresponsive around 6 a.m. Wednesday when he came home.
“This is the hardest post I’ve ever had to post. Anastasia passed away at 6 o’clock this morning. Andrew came home and checked on her and she wasn’t breathing. I did CPR until the ambulance arrived, and then we went to the children [hospital],” Ms. Day-Weaver wrote on her Facebook account.
Weaver said Anastasia was pronounced dead 15 minutes after she was taken to Akron Children’s Hospital.
No details on the cause of death have been released.

Anastasia was born Nov. 11, 2016, in Boardman, Ohio, according to an online obituary. She had an identical twin sister, Caitlin.
Her mother is a nurse at Akron Children’s Hospital in Boardman, writes the COVID Blog.
In a now-private Facebook post, Weaver revealed that she and her twin had received the COVID vaccine.
Post from November 11, 2021: “After an hour and a half of screaming, both girls received the first dose of the vaccine. Anna got it without a problem. Caitlin screamed and cried for an hour and a half. Wasn’t there a tear when the pharmacist managed to give the injection? I’m beaten…”
Post from January 5, 2022: “The side effects of the covid booster were worse for me than the second injection. Severe headache, temperature 101, severe body aches. They were very bad for about 6-8 hours. I’m mostly better now, but I still have a slight fever and headache. Even with the side effects, the vaccine is worth it. In a good place. My girls had no side effects from the second injection apart from a sore arm.”
On June 29, 2022, Anastasia had a seizure.
“I’m in the ER right now with Anna. She had a seizure. She’s doing well. They are currently running the labs. Update. we are home. Everything is back to normal. Just watching over her at home,” Ms Day-Weaver wrote in the now private post.
On July 15, 2022, Ms. Day-Weaver reported that despite taking medication to prevent seizures, Anastasia was still having constant “miniature seizures.”
“I found out this morning that Anna is still having little seizures that last less than 5 seconds even with the increase in medicine. We are waiting for her current level to come back and then we will see if we increase the meds again or add another one. It’s not the news we wanted, but she’s still great,” she wrote.
On September 17, 2022, Ms. Day-Weaver reported that the entire vaccinated family contracted COVID-19 for three weeks.
On January 2, 2023, Anastasia had been in the hospital for five days, according to Ms. Day-Weaver.
On January 25, she died suddenly.
Details of the cause of death have not yet been released.
The funeral was held last Monday, January 30, 2023.
