All the Details On the 2020 Met Gala
The Costume Institute has announced it’s 2020 exhibition, and it sounds like a history lover’s dream. About Time: Fashion and Duration will trace more than a century and a half of fashion along a “disruptive timeline.” Feature over 160 examples of women’s fashion dating as far back as 1870, the show will both a timeline and a counter timeline of fashion history. The timeline pieces will mostly be in black, and presented chronologically, while the counter pieces will predominately be in white. These pieces may either pre- or post-date the chronological pieces they are paired with, but will share some sort of connection. The whole exhibit will end with a section looking towards the future, which will include discussions about sustainability.

Virginia Woolf will be a “ghost narrator” of the exhibit, and the whole thing draws from philosopher Henri Bergson’s concept of la durée — time that flows, accumulates, and is indivisible. Essentially, it explores how we use fashion to make associations with time, past, present, and future. Considering the whole thing is tied to The Met’s 150th anniversary, this is sure to be a trippy experience.

And now for the glam stuff: Louis Vuitton is this year’s sponsor, and Nicolas Ghesquière will be one of the Met Gala’s co-chairs. He’ll be joined by  Lin-Manuel Miranda, Emma Stone, Meryl Streep, and Anna Wintour. The 2020 Met Gala will take place May 4, and About Time will be open to the public from May 7 to September 7.

Prada and Adidas Are Collaborating (Instagram)
Prada took to Instagram this morning to announce a new collaboration with Adidas. There isn’t much information on the partnership, other than that it’s “coming soon.” But from the image, it appears the house will put its own spin on a pair of sneakers.

In other high-fashion-meets-Adidas news, the athletic brand’s second collaboration with Missoni is dropping today. The collection features an expanded range of styles, including the new Pulseboost sneaker.

Tommy Hilfiger Is Going High-Tech (WWD)
Beginning with his Spring 2022 collection, Tommy Hilfiger will be designing in 3D. This will allow the company to digitize its design process, allowing for faster turnaround, and even helping the brand measure how circular and recyclable its products are. The company has also created a “virtual showroom,” which has been rolled out worldwide.

“The potential of 3D design is limitless, allowing us to meet consumer needs faster, as well as design in a more sustainable way,” says Daniel Grieder, CEO of Tommy Hilfiger Global and PVH Europe. “The technology has become a fundamental tool in our collection design and ready to replace traditional product photography. By Fall 2020, our men’s wear shirts will be 100 percent 3D designed, with no samples made and buyers unable to tell the difference from those presented in the traditional way. This is the future.”

Gucci’s Florentine Restaurant Gets a Michelin Star (Vogue)
Gucci is luxurious across the board! Gucci Osteria da Massimo Bottura, the restaurant inside Gucci Garden, has just been awarded a Michelin Star, a top honor in the fine dining world. To get a sense of how coveted this recognition is, there are only eight restaurants in Florence with a Michelin Star. Meanwhile, only one in the whole city holds the top honor of three stars.
