Opinions are bullshit. Everyone has one and most of them stink. Still, some stinks are much worse than others, and in the world of sports, there’s no better place to see pooped ass than Twitter. In today’s edition of your idiocy show, enter Eliot Shorr-Parks, self-proclaimed Eagles reporter for 94WIP.com. Despite his work in sports media, he proved that critical thinking isn’t his forte with the tweet below, where he said that if you were building a quarterback from scratch, you’d want someone more like Jalen Hurts than Patrick Mahomes. To further prove his bad opinion, the second line of his message presents a biased finding as an undeniable fact.
Hot shots, get your hot shots!
Hot shots are in fashion. It’s an easy way to get your 15 minutes of fame. As do most people who chase power over journalistic excellence, for example Jason Whitlock or Skip Bayless, your ass shows very quickly. To prove his impartiality as a beat reporter, he wears a Philadelphia Union jersey in an attached video on his Twitter page. I didn’t have to look hard to find out the guy was a jerk, let alone all the Eagles fans were saying he didn’t represent them fan base in the answers. Falling through the ceiling of the bus stop it’s more their business.
If you show your lack of brainpower to get someone to bite the bullet and write about you, kudos. Aside from the immediate attention-grabbing of the Shorr-Parks tweet, Jalen Hurts’ phenomenal season needs to be recognized. He probably is The MVP runner-up to the No. 1 quarterback on the other side for Sunday’s Super Bowl. And if Hurts doesn’t get hurt near the end of the regular season, he could beat out Mahomes for the award. Calling Hurts an elite point guard at this point is also not accurate at this point.
Which defenders are elite?
There are only three quarterbacks I would call elite in today’s NFL: Mahomes, Josh Allen and Joe Burrow. That list should be exclusive, not inclusive. There are a few quarterbacks who want to be on that list but definitely don’t deserve to make it at this point: Justin Herbert, Lamar Jackson, Aaron Rodgers and Hurts. To be truly elite, you need current back-to-back seasons of continuous play at the highest level. Hurts did it in 2022, but let’s not forget the chirping of Eagles fans who wondered if he was their guy entering year No. 3. This is his first campaign looking like an elite quarterback, and he can’t be considered among the best until it’s repeated . It has all the tools win Super Bowl LVII and join that trio next season. He is definitely not there right now.

What makes Jalen Hurts better than Patrick Mahomes?
What exactly makes it a better quarterback than Mahomes? I really can’t remember anything. It hurts to be great and that Mahomes exists as a signal caller like we’ve never seen before in the NFL are true. Thanks largely to the play of Mahomes, the AFC Championship game has been held in Kansas City in each of the last five seasons. Hurts managed that feat four times less.
There’s no doubt that Hurts has traits that are incredibly desirable for any quarterback. He has a strong hand, is mobile, creative and tough. Hurts also has yet to start every game of the NFL season. It’s too early to call him the ideal quarterback when you have other guys in the league like Mahomes and Allen who have proven that without a doubt. When you’re building the NFL’s best running back, why not pick the best? In that case, you build Mahomes.
