One of the most memorable performances in NFL history win or lose. On December 19, 2004, Roy Williams broke Terrell Owens’ right leg and tore a ligament in the ankle. The fight would be banned the following season, but it was likely that the rest of the run was over for Owens.
The Eagles played the Patriots in the Super Bowl on February 6, 2005. Owens would indeed return to the field after surgery and two screws placed in his ankle. Against a dominant Patriots defense, he tallied nine catches for 122 yards. Had he been healthy, maybe he could have turned a few of those catches into touchdowns. Yet for all his drama in that short stay in Philadelphia, those who saw it will never forget that one night in Jacksonville.
