“The number of notebooks that Biden kept is large,” a source told NBC News.

The pages in the notebook are not classified, but may “refer” to classified material, NBC said.

The notebooks were seized because Biden’s notes on some pages related to his official business as vice president, including details of his diplomatic engagements during the Obama administration, and may relate to classified information, the same person said, adding that the notebooks were not classified. themselves, but some of the handwritten notes within could be considered as such given their sensitive content.

Other pages in the notebooks, while they may not contain potentially classified information, could still be considered government property under the Presidential Records Act because they relate to official business conducted by Biden as vice president, according to a person familiar with the investigation.

The notebooks include a mix of Biden’s handwritten notes on a variety of topics, both personal and official, according to a person familiar with the seizure. On some pages, Biden wrote things about his family or his life unrelated to public office, the same person said. On other pages, he wrote down some of his experiences or thoughts as vice president at the time, according to the same source.
