It’s the end of an era. Dani Stahl, style director and consummate factory girl, has left Nylon after 17 years.

Stahl made the announcement today on her Instagram account, writing that yesterday was her last day at the indie fashion media brand, which has struggled in recent years following its merger with / takeover by FashionIndie in 2014.

“I worked with some of the coolest, most talented, creative people out there,” wrote Stahl. “Grateful for every minute. I’m happy I got to be a part of the Nylon that evolved over the last few years, and I wish those guys the best of luck. My Nylon, the Nylon I helped create, the Nylon that totally defined my 20’s and most of my 30’s, and moreover influenced an entire generation of cool kids across the globe ended years ago. That Nylon was F@&#ING AWESOME. Don’t forget that Nylon, @marvinjarrett really NAILED it. Sometimes you just have to free up some space to make room for the new, Let’s Go.”

Stahl was the last staff member hold-out from the days before the merger. She was with Nylon longer even than its founders, Marvin Scott Jarrett and Jaclyn Jarrett — editor-in-chief and publisher, respectively, until they were ousted in 2014. She even managed to outlast the magazine itself, sticking around almost an entire year after the company discontinued their print edition in October of 2017.
