A new law was introduced in Florida that would allow people to carry concealed weapons without a permit.
The move, which has the support of Gov. Ron DeSantis, is known as a Constitutional carryover, and if passed, Florida would be the 26th state to adopt such a rule.
As crime skyrocketed in the United States, so did gun sales.

Florida lawmakers allow gun owners to carry without a license in a “constitutional carry” law.
Florida could become the 26th state to allow people to carry concealed loaded guns anywhere without a permit under legislation approved Monday by House Speaker Paul Renner and the Florida Sheriffs’ Association.
The concept behind the bill (HB 543), which supporters have called “constitutional carryover,” also has the support of Gov. Ron DeSantis and Senate President Kathleen Passidomo, R-Naples.
The proposal, however, does not change current laws that restrict the open display of handguns or long guns, or so-called “open carry” — an expansion that some gun advocates want but that has drawn resistance in a state so dependent on tourism.
“Florida was the nation’s leader in allowing concealed carry and that extends today as we remove the certificate of government permission … to exercise a constitutional right,” said Renner, R-Palm Coast.
Concealed handgun permits in Florida would continue under the proposal. Some residents may want a permit that would allow them to carry a concealed weapon into other states, under reciprocity agreements, Renner said.
Florida has 2.6 million concealed handgun permits. And residents who receive a permit must undergo firearms training, along with a background check showing they have no criminal convictions or a host of other restrictions.
The NRA supports the move, as do many political leaders and law enforcement officials in Florida.
