MADRID (Reuters) – Dozens of international and domestic flights operated by Spanish state carrier Iberia were canceled on Saturday due to problems in the company’s reservation and boarding system, the airline said.
Five flights – to London, Lisbon, Vigo, Barcelona and Jerez de la Frontera in southern Spain – were cancelled, said a spokeswoman for Iberia, part of the International Consolidated Airlines Group (LON:).
“At 11:30 there were delays of up to an hour in flights in Spain and Europe. This affected dozens (of services),” the spokeswoman added. “It is focused on Madrid, but it affects other airports as well. We have volunteers working to solve the problem as soon as possible.”
“Due to an incident in our systems, reservation and boarding services have been suspended at several airports,” Iberia said on Twitter.
“The entire Iberia team is working to resolve the issue. We apologize to our customers for the inconvenience this situation is causing.”
He did not provide any further details on the nature of the problem or when it is likely to be resolved.
