LeBron James will have the opportunity to become the NBA’s all-time leading scorer against the Oklahoma City Thunder. The LA Lakers host the Thunder on Tuesday night, and fans are hoping James breaks the record.
Unfortunately, the four-time NBA champion may not play tonight. He was questioned for Tuesday night’s game with left ankle inflammation and could miss the game.
LeBron’s injury status will be updated shortly before kickoff, but for now he is listed as questionable and will likely be sidelined. If he doesn’t play, he will have a chance to break the record against the Milwaukee Bucks on Thursday night.
LeBron James may not play against the Oklahoma City Thunder
LeBron has been dealing with ankle issues for some time and is still not fully recovered. The 20-year NBA veteran missed 11 games in 2022-23, including five straight in November 2022.
The LA Lakers will play one of their most important games on Tuesday night as they host the Oklahoma City Thunder. The Thunder are only 0.5 games ahead of the Lakers, which makes this match very interesting.
James is just 36 points shy of tying Kareem Abdul-Jabbar’s all-time scoring record, which makes the upcoming game even more special. Unfortunately, NBA fans may not witness the historic night on Tuesday.

The four-time MVP played in the last three games with an average of 27.0 points, 8.7 rebounds and 8.0 assists per game. James led the Lakers to a 2-1 record in these games and even posted a triple-double on 28-10-11 against the New York Knicks.
LeBron James’ injury status will be updated shortly before kickoff. With this being a Western Conference game, James’ status may not be revealed until 9:00 PM ET.
When can LeBron break the all-time record?
LeBron is averaging 30.0 points per game on 50.5% shooting in 2022-23. If he misses Tuesday night’s game against the Oklahoma City Thunder, he will most likely break the record against the Milwaukee Bucks or Golden State Warriors.
Given that the current record holder Kareem Abdul-Jabbar spent six seasons of his career in Milwaukee, breaking the record against the Bucks would be special.
If James doesn’t break the record against the Bucks, becoming the NBA’s all-time leading scorer against the Golden State Warriors would also be special given his rivalry with the Dubs.

The Lakers forward needs 36 points to surpass Abdul-Jabbar. He’s scored more than 35 points in nine of 43 games this season, so he could probably do that in one game.
