Lockheed Martin rolls out Germany’s first KC-130J mid-air refueler

Lockheed Martin has rolled out the first KC-130J tanker and transport aircraft for the German Air Force or Luftwaffe.

The first aircraft bound for Germany rolled out of Lockheed Martin’s Marietta, Georgia manufacturing facility on January 26.

The new KC-130J (build number 382-5962) with two other C-130J-30 transport aircraft will become part of a joint Franco-German squadron at Evreux Air Base, France.

In 2018, Germany announced the purchase of a C-130J-30/KC-130J fleet, to be used in partnership with France — making this the first operating relationship of its kind in C-130J history.

The Joint Airlift Squadron is slated to achieve full operational capability in 2024-25.
