Nicolas Cage set to play Nicolas Cage in film about Nicolas Cage
Nicolas Cage is set to play himself in a film about himself.
Producers are reportedly in “final talks” with the actor to star in The Unbearable Weight Of Massive Talent, which would see him take on the role of a “heightened version of himself”.
According to Deadline, the movie will tell the story of Cage at a time in which he is low on cash and reluctantly accepts a cheque for $1m to perform at a private event for a wealthy fan.
The script, penned by Ghosted creators Tom Gormican and Kevin Etten, will see Cage “become a version of some of his most iconic and beloved characters in order to extricate himself from an increasingly dangerous situation”.
It remains to be seen which characters make the cut, but there are certainly plenty of options and you can vote on your favourite from a few of his most beloved roles below.
No release date has yet been given for The Unbearable Weight Of Massive Talent, which Cage will also help produce through his film company Saturn Films.
More recently, the 55-year-old star – who won his Academy Award for Leaving Las Vegas – has appeared in relatively obscure genre pictures like Mandy and Between Worlds.
He has also provided vocals on a number of family animated films over the last few years, including the critically-acclaimed Spider-Man: Into The Spider-Verse.
