The incident took place in the Kech district of southwestern Baluchistan province, which shares a long, lawless border with Afghanistan and Iran.
Pakistan’s military said four soldiers of its border patrol were killed by attackers from Iran.
“A group of terrorists operating from the Iranian side attacked a routine border patrol of Pakistani security forces operating along the Pakistan-Iran border,” the military’s media wing ISPR said on Saturday.
“Necessary contact is being established with the Iranian side for effective action against terrorists on the Iranian side and to prevent such incidents in the future.”

Pakistan and Iran share more than 900 km (45 miles) of border. There have been several security incidents in the past.
Insurgent Baloch nationalist groups in the area say they are fighting for a greater share of the region’s resources. Baloch groups operate on both sides of the border.
In January, at least 13 people were injured after an explosion on a passenger train in the province’s Bolan district.
