According to National, Barcelona star Robert Lewandowski has had enough of playing alongside Ferran Torres. The Spaniard arrived at the Catalan club from Manchester City in January last season. However, the 22-year-old has failed to impress since his move to Barca.
Since his arrival, Torres has made 49 appearances for the Blaugrana, scoring 12 goals and registering seven assists. He made 23 appearances this season, scoring five goals and registering one assist.
The Spaniard, however, is often criticized for his poor performances on the pitch. The likes of Ansu Fati, Raphinha and Ousmane Dembele have progressed ahead of Torres.
Xavi urged the club to sign the 22-year-old last year, however, the former Valencia player has since failed to live up to the manager’s expectations. Now, the aforementioned report suggests that Robert Lewandowski, who has spearheaded the Catalan club’s attack this season, is frustrated at playing alongside Torres.
The report also claims that club president Joan Laporta and sporting director Matheu Alneny concluded that the operation to sign Torres was a botched move. With Barcelona’s ongoing financial crisis, the club could be expected to cash in on Torres if they find a potential suitor.
Barcelona coach Xavi reported on Ousmane Dembele’s injury
Ousmane Dembele has managed a remarkable turnaround in his career at Barcelona. The French winger has established himself as one of the most important players in Xavi’s team this season. Dembele has scored eight goals and registered seven assists in 28 games so far this season.
The former Borussia Dortmund star, however, suffered the injury during the La Liga away game against Girona. He was replaced by Pedri in the 26th minute of the match.
After the competition ended, Xavi reported on Dembele’s injury. He told the media (via SPORT):
“Dembélé? I think there is an important injury, it’s a shame because he is one of our most determined footballers, the most differential. We’ll see what the tests say, but he felt something. We hope it’s as minor as possible.”
He also added:
“It disrupted our plans but Jordi Alba was very good in the second half, he opened up the field and allowed Gavi to get in between the lines.”
Dembélé is replaced by Pedri after only 25 minutes…Let’s hope it’s nothing serious… 😳 https://t.co/ohaZxAWEF0
