Singer airlifted to hospital after being bitten by rattlesnake
Singer Mike Posner has shared a video from hospital after being bitten by a rattlesnake.
The US star, best known for hits including Cooler Than Me and I Took A Pill In Ibiza, said on his Instagram page that he had been airlifted by helicopter for treatment.
A video showed him lying in a bed being wheeled along by medical staff.
Posner is currently walking across the US and said he crossed from Kansas to Colorado on Wednesday.
In his post, shared from Colorado, about the bite, he said: “Crazy day yesterday! I had just crushed 16 miles and was going for 8 more when I got bit by a baby rattlesnake!
“That venom is no joke! I got to the hospital and got the anti-venom in time. Shout outs to G and Mike from the chopper team and Bo and Cassie and Whitney (my nurses).
“I’ll be here a few days and will not be able to walk for several weeks but enjoying the AC and the nice bed, haven’t had those in a while Hahahaha!”
The 31-year-old Grammy nominee, who was born in Detroit, said despite the injury he would continue with his walk.
“Can’t wait to get back on The Walk! KEEP GOING!!!!!!”, he wrote.
In another video from hospital, he thanked fans for “all sending me your support”.
Posner’s celebrity friends were quick to post get well soon messages on his page.
Joe Jonas wrote: “Rest up bro. Glad you are OK.”
Millie Bobby Brown said: “What!!! Get well soon, sending best wishes to you.”
And Jessie J commented: “You are a real life super hero.”
Posner began his hike across the US in April, starting in Asbury Park, New Jersey. He plans to walk 20 miles a day, aiming to reach California in September.
Rattlesnake bites on people are rarely fatal, with less than one in 600 resulting in death, according to the US Forest Service, while a third of bites do not actually contain venom.
