The Brazilian federation released an official statement amid rumors of a deal with Carlo Ancelotti for the role of head coach

The Brazilian Football Association has denied reports that Carlo Ancelotti has agreed a new contract to take over as national team coach.

ESPN Brasil previously reported that the Italian manager had agreed to join Le Selecao as their head coach.

The five-time world champions are actively looking for a new coach. Tita’s former manager resigned after they crashed out of the quarter-finals of the 2022 FIFA World Cup.

Ancelotti was among the famous names who took over as coach of Le Selecao. The CBF, however, denied the rumours. Their statement read:

“The Brazilian Football Confederation (CBF) informs that the news published this Friday (10.2.) that the coach of Real Madrid, the Italian Carlo Ancelotti, is the new coach of the Brazilian national team, is unfounded.”

The statement further stated:

“President Ednaldo Rodrigues stands by the statements he made on Wednesday, after the draw for the Copa do Brasil matches. At the time, the official dismissed the speculation, saying the matter was being handled transparently and that the chosen coach would be announced in due course.”

Ancelotti has a contract with Real Madrid until the end of the 2023-24 season. The Italian recently stated that he would see the current deal through. He said (h/t Fabrizio Romano):

“The Brazilian national team? I don’t know anything about this, I don’t even know what they announced in Brazil. I’m the coach of Real Madrid, my contract is until June 2024.”

Ancelotti is currently focused on Real Madrid’s clash with Al-Hilal in the Club World Cup final on Saturday 11 February. The Los Blancos manager said the team is looking forward to lifting their first trophy of the season. He said (via the club’s official website):

“It is a huge challenge. We are very close to winning a trophy that is very important to us. It was extremely difficult to get here and we made a lot of sacrifices. This is a day of excitement and wishes. I invite the team to enjoy this match and to do their best. We are ready for it and we want to win, as always.”

Ahead of the clash against Al-Hilal, Carlo Ancelotti was questioned about the talent possessed by Brazilian striker Rodrygo. Speaking about the young striker, Ancelotti referred to his conversation with Federico Valverde and said:

“I don’t know, he has the quality to score a lot of goals. He scores important goals, last year he scored big goals. I’m not going to gamble because I’m putting myself on the line with Valverde and I’m not going to take any chances with Rodrygo.”

Rodrygo scored 10 goals and provided six assists in 31 games for Real Madrid this season.
