The Young Bucks tease a hit AEW contract with the 18-year wrestling veteran

Two-thirds of the AEW World Trios Champions, The Young Bucks recently hinted that their promotion is interested in signing the 18-year veteran on behalf of Kota Ibushi.

The Young Bucks and Ibushi have a history together. They wrestled each other several times during their time in New Japan Pro Wrestling. The former IWGP World Heavyweight Champion was one of Kenny Omega’s tag team partners. The duo teamed up for a host of matches between 2017 and 2019.

In October 2021, Ibushi fought Kazuchika Okada at G1 Climax. Okada took the win while Ibushi not only lost, but also suffered a fatal hand injury and has been sidelined ever since. On February 1, 2023, NJPW revealed that the first IWGP World Heavyweight Champion’s contract with them had expired and therefore Ibushi was a free agent.

During a recent interview with Dark Puroresu Flowsion, The Young Bucks shared their interest in working with the Japanese star again. They said they missed him and recalled the time Ibushi texted them about Omega’s match at the Tokyo Dome.

“Love him. Miss him. He kept us updated on Kenny the night of the Tokyo Dome. He keeps sending us little updates. There’s no doubt we’d love to have him around or work with him. I think he’s got the ability to do whatever he wants to do,” said The Young Bucks. [H/T Fightful.com]

Kota Ibushi revealed that he had offers from AEW

Before interviewing the Young Bucks, Dark Puroresu Flowsion did an interview with Koto Ibushi. During the interview, the free agent mentioned that despite receiving big offers from top promotions like AEW, he is interested in starting his own promotion.

“My plan for the future is to have my own promotion and do a lot of volunteering. There are really big offers from AEW and from all over the world, but I would like to contribute, but rather than visiting nursing homes and so on,” said Kota Ibushi. [H/T Fightful.com]

I had the pleasure of speaking with Koto Ibushi. I asked him if he still had the desire to start his own promotion. Here is his answer. https://t.co/tsWO1tuGVU

The Japanese star also stated that he will contribute more to the world of wrestling in 2023.
