Throne founder Justin Sun, who calls himself His Excellency (HE) Justin Sun, has reportedly lost the diplomatic status that allows him to use the grand title. Sun’s diplomatic status as Grenada’s permanent ambassador to the World Trade Organization was reportedly revoked in June 2022.
Justin Sun was appointed by the New National Party, which was the country’s ruling party at the time, as Grenada’s permanent ambassador to the World Trade Organization in December 2021. Sun was quick to advertise his newly acquired diplomatic status, including the adoption of a grand title.
The appointment came with certain expectations, including promoting trade, investment and development opportunities for the country. The Government of Grenada also expected the founders of Tron to support the development of human resources, infrastructure and information and communication technology for the country.
However, after the 2022 general election, the National Democratic Congress of Grenada removed the New National Party from office. One of the first tasks of the new ruling party was to make significant changes in its diplomatic staff. According to a report by the Grenada Broadcasting Network, the new government recalled all ambassadors after the elections last June.
Among those who were stripped of their diplomatic status was Justin Sun. Sun’s ambassadorship to the WTO was subsequently revoked. However, the founder of Tron continues to present himself as Grenada’s ambassador to the WTO. His official Twitter profile still states that he is a diplomat of that Caribbean country. Interestingly, the official Twitter account of the Permanent Mission of Grenada to the WTO still identifies Sun as the ambassador.
