(Reuters) – Ukrainian Defense Minister Oleksiy Reznikov, under pressure from a corruption scandal in his ministry, should be transferred to another position in the government, the head of President Volodymyr Zelensky’s parliamentary bloc said on Sunday.

David Arakhamia, the head of the Servants of the People bloc, said that the defense ministry will be headed by Kyrylo Budanov, the head of the GUR military intelligence agency.

He did not say when the move would be formalized. There was no immediate comment from Reznikov.

“War dictates changes in personnel policy,” Arakhamia said on the Telegram messaging app.

“Times and circumstances call for strengthening and regrouping. This is happening now and will happen in the future…The enemy is preparing for the offensive. We are preparing to defend and take back what is ours.”
