Ukrainian forces blew up the Russian “scary” Terminator tank

Ukrainian artillery reportedly blew up a rare Russian Terminator armored fighting vehicle.

An image shared on Instagram by the head of the Luhansk region, Serhiy Haidai, shows what appears to be a Russian BMPT Terminator armored vehicle after a direct hit somewhere inside Ukraine’s Donbas region.

The Terminator, also known as the BMPT, is the latest combat vehicle to enter Russian service, the first visually confirmed loss of this type of vehicle.

The BMPT is a modern Russian heavy tank support combat vehicle designed for urban combat. It is armed with two 30 mm 2A42 cannons with a combat load of 900 rounds. The combat vehicle is also equipped with the Ataka-T anti-tank missile system, 30mm automatic grenade launchers and a large-caliber machine gun.

The three-man crew is protected from biological weapons by a closed defense system.

The combat vehicle is built on the chassis of the Soviet-era T-72 main battle tank used by the Russian military.
