Alexander Payne has been introduced as Jury President for the 82nd Venice Movie Competition, working from August 27 to September 6.
The director follows within the footsteps of current jury presidents Isabelle Huppert (2024), Damien Chazelle (2023), Julianne Moore 2022, Bong Joon-ho (2021) and Cate Blanchett (2020).
The choice was made by the Board of Administrators of La Biennale di Venezia, who confirmed the advice of the Director of the Venice Movie Competition, Alberto Barbera.
In accepting the proposal, Alexander Payne stated: “It’s an infinite honor and pleasure to serve on the jury at Venice. Though I share a filmmaker’s ambivalence about evaluating movies towards each other, I revere the Venice Movie Competition’s almost 100-year historical past of loudly celebrating movie as an artwork type.
